2017-2018 First Day is in the Books!

If the first day is any indication of the our year, it's going to FABULOUS!

I spaced on morning pictures. But here are some of our afternoon. We did a team building activity where the students had to save poor Fred (a gummy worm) whose boat capsized (cup) and he wasn't wearing his life jacket (gummysaver). They had to get the life saver around Fred and put him back in his boat all without touching anything! They could only use paperclips. It took a team, but they did it and communicated great!

We got to know our classroom library and all the wonderful books we have by doing a library scavenger hunt. Students searched through books to answer the clues, all while looking for their first book to read of the year.

Ms. Terrian read us a book, "First Day Jitters."  It had a twist at the end that had the students and Ms. T giggling.

While the 5th graders learned about safety patrol, the 4th graders took their first test of the year. Following directions. Unfortunately, they all flunked!  However, a valuable lesson of reading all the directions was learned, along with a few laughs.

Finally, we ended our day with an assembly in the gym to meet all our new staff members!
