Last week, we completed our Book Tasting. It was a huge success! Students rotated to different tables that each displayed a different genre. They sampled that genre for 10 minutes becoming excited as they were finding books they couldn't wait to get their hands on. We reflected on each genre and added books we were excited to read to our reading notebooks.
Teigue noticed a student from another class dropped all their belongings in the hallway and rushed out to help. Way to go, Teigue!
Our "keep the quote" last week was awarded to Easton. From day one, Easton has gone out of his way to help students in and out of our classroom. His kind actions definitely make others feel like a somebody.
Emma led MMKO this week!
5th grade has been learning about fire safety. Monday the fire department brought in their survive alive house and students were able to do a simulated house fire.
It's our pledge week. New this year is a "live" pledge. Mr. Mockert broadcasts our pledgers each morning. This morning Emma, Porter, Zac, Adam and Mady led the way.
After I-Ready testing this morning, we got up and got moving. Students had to get through a maze of locked doors by asking each other questions. It was another great way to get to know our new 45ers.
Adam finished our day with a really tough card. Although it was a really good try, Mrs. Mentink scored the "Watch the Mouth" point.
